(PHOTOS) Hornets Fall to Eden Prairie in Close Game

The boys lacrosse team lost 9-8 during a home game against the Eagles.

It was another close contest as the boys lacross team played host to Eden Prairie on Tuesday, May 8, at .

The Hornets came out strong against the formidible Eagles, posting a 3-3 tie at the end of the first quarter. The boys kept the pressure on during the second quarter, gaining a 5-4 lead heading into the second half.

Unfortunately for Edina, the Eagles turned things around in the second half and outscored the Hornets 5-3. By the time the final whistle blew, the Eagles had once again defeated the Hornets 9-8 this season.

Senior Danny Regan led the team with two goals. Outside of that, it was a true team effort with six other Hornets—Richard McGowan, Will Farmer, Danny Burke, Derek Todd, Ted Goltzman and Henry Rose—each scoring one goal. 

Goalie Austin Dover made 13 saves during the game, while Junior Willy Dugan won seven of 19 faceoffs against the Eagles.

The Hornets are 2-6 so far this season, with a 1-4 Lake Conference record. Eden Prairie currently sits atop the mountain with a 7-0 conference record.
