(PHOTOS) Hornets Hustle Hopkins in Conference Battle

The Edina varsity baseball team defeated the Royals 4-2 on Monday, May 14.

A solid victory over the Hopkins Royals on Monday, May 14, helped put the varsity baseball team atop the Lake Conference, with the 2012 season winding down.

Hopkins won the first two 2012 matchups against Edina, but the Hornets prevented them from a sweep with Monday's win.

Sophomore Stephen Kalina helped the team secure a win with a solo home run in the fourth inning.

The Hornets are now 8-8-1 overall this season, with a 6-4 conference record. Hopkins is a close second in the conference behind Edina, with a 5-4 record.

The Hornets head to Minnetonka to face the Skippers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16.
