The Edina baseball team outplayed the Cardinals at home on Monday, April 23.
The baseball team snapped a three-game winless streak on Monday, April 23, blanking the Coon Rapids Cardinals 5-0 at .
Coming off of a pair of painful losses (3-4 to Hopkins and 0-6 to Lakeville North) and a tied game against Totino-Grace suspended due to weather, the Hornets were on the hunt to add another mark to the win column.
After two innings without a score on either side, the Hornets struck in the third by scoring four runs. One additional run in the fifth was the only scoring to take place for the two teams, bringing the final tally to 5-0 in favor of Edina.

Junior Mitch Larson pitched the entire game with only two hits, fanning nine batters along the way. Sophomore Steven Kalina led the Hornets with two runs—one of which was a home run—and one RBI. Ryan Searls, Nick Omodt and Adam Carlson all scored runs, while Omodt also had one RBI.
Junior Mark Handberg had two RBIs and Matt Hopfner had one.

The latest win gives the Hornets a 3-3 overall record for their 2012 season. They're tied for second in the Lake Conference with a 1-1 record.
