(PHOTOS) South View Band Serenades Minnesota Educators

The 9th grade band recently helped present a session at a Minnesota Music Educators Association convention.

The 9th grade band from —alongside world-renowned author and composer Bruce Pearson—recently helped educate band teachers from throughout Minnesota.

The group of middle schoolers and Pearson presented a session at the Minnesota Music Educators Association (MMEA) convention earlier this month at the Minneapolis Convention Center. 

Held every February, the conference features more than 100 educational sessions, 35 concerts and a trade show. More than 1,300 music educators and nearly 6,000 people attend the event every year.

The South View band is a 73-member group that feeds directly into Edina High School's band program. The budding musicians rehearse every day under the direction of Geneva Fitzsimonds and Charles Weise.
