Police Hosting Meeting to Discuss Rash of Burglaries, Auto Thefts
Since June 10, there have been 15 residential burglaries and seven thefts from vehicles in northwest Edina.

Detective Dave Carlson will be leading a neighborhood meeting later this week to discuss a surge of home burglaries and thefts from vehicles in northwest Edina.
Carlson will lead a meeting at the from 7-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 26. The department will be providing current information on the wave of crime as well as residential security tips.
As Patch , 15 homes and seven vehicles have been stolen from since June 10, all in the city's northwestern quadrant. Most of the incidents took place overnight and did not involve forced entry, meaning house and car doors were unlocked.

The department is increasing patrols in the area and urging residents to call 9-1-1 to report anything suspicious.

- Lock all ground floor windows and doors.
- Keep overhead garage doors down, and both the exterior and interior service door to the home locked.
- Leave exterior lights on.
- Place lights and radios on timers to create the appearance of activity within home.
- Keep valuables out of sight and vehicles locked.
