Police Offering $2,500 Reward for Information on Burglary Suspect
A couple of weeks after revealing they had a suspect, Edina Police are offering a reward for information leading to the man's arrest.
The Edina Crime Prevention Fund is offering $2,500 for information leading to the arrest of a suspect believed responsible for in northwest Edina since mid-June.
Edina and Hopkins police have been looking for the suspect for several weeks now, revealing late last month they with a history of criminal offenses.
Police describe the suspect as a black male, 5'7" tall, weighing between 150 and 160 lbs., with brown eyes and black hair. Anyone with information about the identification or location of the suspected burglar could secure the $2,500 reward, provided their tip leads to the apprehension, arrest and conviction of the suspect—or suspects—responsible for the crimes.

In total, have attributed 15 burglaries and 10 thefts from auto to the suspect since June 10. All of the incidents were crimes of opportunity, with 73 percent reportedly involving unlocked doors or windows to cars, garages and residences. They happened largely between midnight and 4 a.m.
The targeted neighborhood is bordered by Washington Avenue to the west, 2nd Street to the north, Blake Road to the east and Maloney Avenue to the south.

Edina Police Det. Dave Carlson said the man they believe is responsible for the crimes likely rides his bike south on Blake Road from Hopkins, then takes the path behind to slip into the Edina neighborhoods silently.
"He's a real piece of work," Carlson said. "He stole from his grandmother twice. He's kind of a loner, though he does run with other people from time to time. Hopkins Police are quite familiar with him."
Anyone with information regarding the incidents or responsible suspect is urged to call the Edina Police Department at 952-826-1600, 24 hours a day. The department will keep any tipster's identity confidential, upon request.
