Stuck Elevator, Crosstown Crash Among Fire Calls

The Edina Fire Department's weekly activity report for Dec. 5-11.

The  responded to the following incidents during the week of Dec. 5-11:

Dec. 5

  • Paramedic firefighters responded to nine incidents requiring emergency medical service. 
  • Firefighters investigated a false fire alarm.

  • There were seven EMS responses.
  • A request for mutual aid for a possible house fire was cancelled en route by the Hopkins Fire Department.
  • A report of smoke coming from a home in the 4500 block of Rutledge Road was found to be steam from a dryer vent.  

Dec. 7

  • Eight EMS incidents.
  • The St. Louis Park Fire Department requested a mutual aid response for a possible structure fire, but cancelled as units were en route. 
  • Firefighters investigated a report of the smell of natural gas outside a home in the 6600 block of Southcrest Drive. No odor was detected, but the gas company was contacted to further investigate.

  • 11 EMS incidents. 
  • Firefighters assisted removing people from a stuck elevator in the 3300 block of Edinborough Way.

Dec. 9

  • Eight EMS responses.
  • An ambulance and an engine crew responded to the site of a vehicle accident with injuries on Hwy. 169 on the ramp to Hwy. 62.
  • A vehicle accident occurred on Hwy. 62 at Gleason Road without injuries. 
  • Three false fire alarm investigations.

Dec. 10

  • Six EMS incidents.
  • Firefighters checked out a report of a carbon monoxide alarm in the 5600 block of Woodcrest Drive. Investigation found a malfunctioning detector for an alarm system that was not a CO alarm. Other problems were occurring with the alarm system while firefighters were investigating, so the homeowner was told to contact the alarm company for repair.
  • Two false fire alarms.

Dec. 11

  • Eight EMS responses.
  • Firefighters investigated two false fire alarms.
