Two Ambulances Respond to Crash on Southdale Service Road
The Edina Fire Department's weekly activity report for Jan. 2-8.

The responded to the following incidents during the week of Jan. 2-8:
Monday, Jan. 2
- Paramedic firefighters responded to 10 incidents that required emergency medical service.

- There were 12 responses for emergency medical service.
- Sparks were reported coming from an electrical box outside a business on the 7400 block of Cahill Road. Firefighters found a short in a bypass box. There was no fire, but the equipment was energized. Xcel Energy responded to the scene and de-energized the box.
- Firefighters responded to the 5000 block of Wooddale Lane for a carbon monoxide alarm. No CO readings were found in the home, so it appeared the alarm was malfunctioning. The residents were advised to replace the alarm.
Wednesday, Jan. 4
- Paramedic firefighters assisted with 13 calls for emergency medical service.
Thursday, Jan. 5

- There were 14 EMS responses.
- An ambulance and an engine crew responded to a vehicle crash on France Avenue and Southdale’s Service Road.
- A second ambulance was called to the scene of the above accident to transport an additional patient to the hospital.
- Firefighters responded to three false fire alarms.
Friday, Jan. 6
- There were 13 EMS incident responses.
- A vehicle crash on Hwy. 62 at France Avenue required an ambulance and an engine crew.
Saturday, Jan. 7
- Paramedics responded to 11 calls for emergency medical service.
- Smoke was reported in the area of the 4500 block of Brookside Avenue. Firefighters found a contractor cutting cement and creating dust. The dust was mistaken for smoke. No fire was found.
- A false fire alarm was reported.
Sunday, Jan. 8
- There were 10 EMS incidents.
- Residents called the fire department to report a fire alarm sounding at an apartment building on the 7300 block of Gallagher Drive. Firefighters arrived, but found no smoke or fire. The alarm system had been silenced prior to the arrival of the fire department, so the cause of the false alarm could not be determined.
