Voters Guide To Edina School Board Election 2021

EDINA, MN — October is coming to an end, which means Election Day is just around the corner.

Residents of the Edina Public School District are tasked with electing four school board members from a field of six candidates.

Incumbents Erica Allenburg and Owen Michaelson are running alongside Michael Birdman, Karen Gabler, Dan Arom and Nicole Schnell.

Edina School Board Candidates Answer To Students At Forum: Watch

Five of the six candidates participated Monday in a forum co-hosted by the Edina High School speech and debate team and the League of Women Voters of Edina.

The candidates responded to students' questions on a wide range of issues, including critical race theory, the district's universal-masking and COVID-19 policies, mental health concerns, bus-driver shortages, and environmental sustainability.

How To Vote

Edina residents can vote early in person at Edina City Hall, 4801 W. 50th St.

Early voting is available from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Friday; from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday; and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday.

No Edina Schools Added To Weekly Coronavirus Outbreak List

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Minnesota has same-day voter registration, which means you can register to vote at your polling place on Election Day.

Mail-in ballots will not count if they are received after Election Day. The suggested deadline to apply for a mail-in ballot was Oct. 19.
