Medical Board Disciplines Fridley Respiratory Therapist

The board found that Kristin J. Knudsen practiced without proper credentials.

The Minnesota Board of Medical Practice disciplined a Fridley respiratory therapist following a board meeting earlier this month, the agency announced Wednesday.

Kristin J. Knudsen used the title “registered respiratory therapist” or the abbreviation “RRT” while providing services to patients without proper credentials, according to the case stipulation and order.

She applied for a respiratory therapist license in October 2012 and has met the education and other requirements necessary for the license.

The board found Knudsen guilty of “violating a statute related to the practice of respiratory therapy; unethical and unprofessional conduct.”

It granted her a respiratory therapy license on the condition that she:

  • Is reprimanded.
  • Pay a $300 civil penalty.
  • Provide the board documentation within six months that she has completed at least 12 credit hours of continuing medical education coursework within the past 12 months.
