6-Year-Old Girl Dies After Car Hit By Man Who Was Wanted For Murder, On The Run: Police
The wanted man was traveling 70 mph in a residential neighborhood with police in pursuit before he struck a family's vehicle.
BROOKLYN CENTER, MN — A 6-year-old girl is dead after a man wanted for murder crashed into a vehicle containing a mother and her children while fleeing police Friday in Brooklyn Center, according to reports.
The crash, which sent several people to hospitals, happened after police received information about 4:20 p.m. that a man with an arrest warrant for murder was in Brooklyn Center, authorities said. Officers found the man in a vehicle and tried to use a tire deflating device to stop him from fleeing, but were unsuccessful, according to police.
The man drove off, traveling 70 mph in a residential neighborhood with police in pursuit, according to KSTP, before he struck the family’s vehicle at 53rd Avenue North and Humboldt Avenue North, KARE reported. Six people were involved in the crash, police said. The wanted man’s vehicle burst into flames shortly after the incident and the vehicle he hit was flipped on its roof, according to KSTP.

Police had requested a state patrol helicopter to assist in safely pursuing the man, but it arrived too late, authorities said.
Several people involved in the crash were taken to area hospitals, according to police. As of Saturday, a 6-year-old girl had died from injuries she suffered in the crash and a 15-year-old girl remained hospitalized, the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

The wanted man was taken into police custody and the pursuit is under investigation by the sheriff’s office, authorities said.
