Season of Giving in Full Swing at Minnesota Virtual Academy
Teachers and students went on a field trip to Feed My Starving Children in Coon Rapids.

Minnesota Virtual Academy (MNVA) had a very special #GivingTuesday recently. Teachers from the school invited students to go on their annual field trip to Feed My Starving Children (FMSC), where they packaged food items to be shipped to regions of the world in desperate need of food.
“The purpose of this trip is to give back,” said Angela Specketer, one of the teachers who sponsors the trip. “We want to show students the importance gratitude for all that we have.”
Students and teachers put together "MannaPacks", food stuffs consisting of dehydrated vegetables, soy nuggets, rice, vitamins, minerals, and vegetarian flavoring. Though FMSC regularly sends these packs to countries all over the world, the MNVA packs were sent to Malawi, Africa.

“Students and parents expressed how the really enjoyed the experience,” said Angela. “They liked how FMSC makes the activity fun. The organization plays uplifting music and encourages each table to come up with a team name as well as a team chant that is shouted after a box is packed. It makes everyone excited to help others!”
MNVA teachers can’t wait until their next annual trip so they can reinforce to every student the importance of giving back.
