Hopkins Public Schools: Math League To Compete At State Tournament

Practices were focused on individual events where they were able to delve deeper into the content.

Hopkins High School Math League qualified for the State Tournament on Feb. 14 at the section meet. The team was named the Section 6AAA Champions and they finished ninth in the state overall. Hopkins High School Henry Scheible also qualified individually for the state tournament.

The team has been committed to preparation for meets under the leadership of senior captains Scheible, Annika Burman, and Matthew Norton. Practices were focused on individual events where they were able to delve deeper into the content. The captains lead practices and Math League Coach Brent Hering facilitated the process.

“All students who are part of math league possess a passion and desire to learn more about mathematics,” Hering said. “These students really enjoy diving deeper into challenging math topics.”

The Hopkins High School 2022 team consists of Scheible, Burman, Norton, Suhayb Ali, Norah Sebesta, Xavier Hakes, Sophie Scheible, Siri Sagedahl, Lucy DenHartog, Bruce Lowmanstone, Merlin Philips, Abby Piepgras, Ted Strasburg, Zoe Lipschultz, Sonja Milkovich, Landon Hering, Chloe Buschmann, Charlie Wagner, and Beatrice (B) Durham.

The Hopkins team will compete in the State Tournament on March 14.
