• Hopkins School Board approves 5.88% tax levy increase (hometownsource.com) — Hopkins residents will see a 5.88% increase in the school district’s 2026 property tax levy, driven largely by voter-approved bonds for safety upgrades and modernized facilities. The Hopkins School Board approved the change Dec. 2 after a Truth in Taxation meeting, and the total levy will be about $73.1 million across several district funds.
   

• Golden Valley resident goes to UN climate conference (hometownsource.com) — A Golden Valley native and Hopkins High School graduate recently joined 50,000 attendees at the UN’s 30th annual climate conference, bringing a local connection to global climate talks. Now a student at the College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University, she focused on climate migration and climate justice, and says the experience reshaped how she understands climate work and global responsibility.
   

• No Breakdown Tip-Off, no problem for some top basketball teams (startribune.com) — Hopkins boys basketball figures prominently in a reshuffled slate of Breakdown Tip-Off games after safety concerns canceled the main event in Edina. The Royals’ suspended game with Tartan will resume Tuesday, and they also fell to Totino-Grace in a high-energy matchup where Hopkins led late before a decisive Eagles run.
