• Hopkins man charged with murder, manslaughter says he accidentally shot girlfriend while clearing gun (cbsnews.com) — A 20-year-old Hopkins man is facing second-degree murder and first-degree manslaughter charges after his girlfriend was fatally shot in their Twin Cities apartment, which he told investigators happened while he was clearing a gun. According to the criminal complaint, he twice pulled the trigger while checking if the firearm was unloaded, and is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday afternoon.
