• Hopkins man charged in girlfriend's death claims he pulled trigger to test if gun was empty (kstp.com) — A Hopkins resident has been charged with second-degree murder and first-degree manslaughter after a woman was fatally shot in an apartment on the 1300 block of Cambridge Street. Prosecutors say he told police the gun fired while he was checking if it was unloaded. He remains in Hennepin County Jail on $500,000 bond, with a first court appearance scheduled Wednesday afternoon.
