Public Burial To Be Held At Fort Snelling For Officer Ben Bidon

INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, MN — Visitation, funeral, and burial services have been set for this weekend for Inver Grove Heights Police Officer Ben Bidon.

The visitation, funeral, and burial services will all be open to the public. "Please join us in honoring Officer Bidon," the police department said.

The visitation services will take place on Sunday, May 7, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hometown Church in Lakeville.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 8 at 12 p.m. at Cedar Valley Church in Bloomington.

The burial will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Bidon, 35, is survived by his wife and three young daughters.

On Friday, the Inver Grove Heights fire department and M Health paramedics responded to a medical emergency involving Bidon. More specific details from the emergency were not released.

Bidon was transported to Regions Hospital, where he died Sunday evening surrounded by family and friends.

Bidon was a graduate of Blaine High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 2005 to 2009, including a 14-month with the 101st Airborne Tiger Force Unit.

Bidon began his career with the Inver Grove Heights Police Department in May 2015.

"As a police officer with Inver Grove Heights Ben was compassionate and diligent in his duties and served the public with pride," the department said in a news release.

"Bidon was a dedicated family man to his wife Ashley and his three daughters, Addison, Evelyn, and Eleanor. The Bidon Family enjoyed the outdoor life, taking many camping and hiking trips together. Ben was heavily involved in his church, loved playing hockey, and was an avid hunter."

In a statement, Rep. Angie Craig said that "Officer Ben Bidon was a decorated Army veteran, a dedicated member of the Inver Grove Heights Police Department & most importantly a beloved father & husband. My heart is with all those who knew & loved Officer Bidon & the IGH police department & first responder community."

A GoFundMe page has been set up to provide donations for the Bidon family.
