Body Found After Boathouse Fire On Lake Minnetonka Ruled Suicide

SHOREWOOD, MN — A body found in the water after a boathouse fire on Enchanted Island in Shorewood has been preliminarily ruled a suicide, according to the South Lake Minnetonka Police Department.

On Oct. 14 at about 2 p.m., South Lake Minnetonka police were dispatched to the 4500 block of Enchanted Point for a report of a boathouse on fire. At the scene, officers located a section of a dock that had burned away and a body in the water. The medical examiner was called to the scene.

Investigators received a preliminary cause of death on Oct. 16 listing it as a suicide, police said. The case remains active and open, and no further information will be provided at this time.

Police thanked Orono Police, Minnetrista Police, the Hennepin County Water Patrol, and Mound Fire for assisting with the investigation.
