Marcy Zachmeier-Ruh, 54

Marcy Zachmeier-Ruh, age 54, of Lakeville passed away December 3, 2012. She was born March 20, 1958, in Mandan, ND, where she grew up. After graduating from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, Marcy pursued her passion for the German language further by earning her Master’s degree. She became a leading figure in German education, honored as the national K-12 German teacher of the year. Her dream of founding a German immersion school was realized in the Twin Cities, where she worked as the curriculum director. Many of her students consider her their mentor.

Marcy’s love of all things German became her trademark, as much as her favorite color purple. She enjoyed baking and gardening and telling stories to her girls, her pride and joy. Her passion for teaching was evident throughout her entire life. However, perhaps what shines through most are the relationships she developed and maintained overseas, in her community, in her church, and in her family. She always was willing to do anything for those she loved, and those who knew her each felt a special connection.

Marcy is preceded in death by her father, William Zachmeier. She is survived by her husband, Robert Ruh; three daughters, Katrina and fiancé Dane Hammer, Viktoria, and Christiana Ruh; mother, BettyJo Zachmeier; two brothers, Mike (Carla) and Bob (Camille); three sisters, Becky Zachmeier (Craig Ayler), Kathy (Jerry) Hotakainen, and Kelley (Don) Franklund; parents-in-law, Lyle and Mary Lou Ruh; brother-in-law, Rick; sister-in-law, Becky (Marty) Sutter; and many loving relatives and friends.
