Does Lakeville Not Have Enough Lakes? Urban Dictionary Users are Talking Smack

Although most of us see Lakeville as a friendly, welcoming, close-knit community, some people—particularly those of a certain satirical website—view it with a bit more snark.

Patch recently searched UrbanDictionary.com to see what others were posting about Lakeville.

Urban Dictionary is an online dictionary of slang words and phrases written by the site’s visitors.  Its Visitors may submit definitions without registering, but they must provide a valid e-mail address to facilitate the submission process.

Although they may seem offensive, satire is used in almost all of the definitions on the site. Nonetheless, some of the posts are actually offensive. OK, probably the majority of the posts were offensive.

Here are some excerpts about Lakeville posted on UrbanDictionary.com. We've edited out some profanities and other infelicities, though no effort has been made to correct mispellings or solecisms.

Lakeville is a city 20 minutes away from anything cool, such as minniapolis and MOA. It used to be farmland until Edina ran out of relistate and all the rich [gentlemen and ladies] started moving into Lakeville instead. People in lakeville are usually either really straight edged wealthy [citizens] that trim their surban lawns with a nail clipper or are under the misimpression that they are really cool and badass, soley based on the fact that they do drugs. Lakeville police are everywhere and have nothing to do but bust kids for drinking and drugs.

Lakeville, Minnesota is the fastest growing suburb surrounding the twin cities and has been named one of the best cities to raise a family, along with Lakeville North being awarded for highest test scores in the state. This is ironic with the exploding amount of drug use and dealers that are present in the suburb. The middle to upper class families give their kids VERY nice cars that the teenagers drink and drive with or just ignorantly destroy for fun. Lakeville is it's own reality where rules don't apply; there's nothing wrong with drunk driving or taking 5 rolls at a time. Lakeville "friends" consist of kids who egg your car or teepee your house for fun. The egos of Lakeville kids are equivalent to that of the entire midwest combined. Tie-dye is the symbol of the suburb, a city where the cheerleaders are stoners, smart individuals do mass amounts of drugs, and ANYONE can be a drug dealer.

Lakeville is a suburb twenty miles south of Minneapolis with jack shit for fun. A second high school recently opened, but Lakeville (North) High School will rule forever. Also has too many conservatives and too many rich [gentlemen and ladies].

Guy 1: What are you doing this weekend? 
Guy 2: Going to a party in the country.
