Dumb Criminal: Speeding Violation Leads to More Serious Charges

This case is one of those that fall into the category of it not being a good idea to attract the attention of police if you are violating the law.

Bob Doerfler recently stopped a motorcycle for speeding that was traveling 30 miles per hour over the posted speed limit. The driver of the motorcycle did not have a valid motorcycle license, so Officer Doerfler charged him with the speeding violation and the license violation.

The driver also was not the owner of the motorcycle and in checking the motorcycle license plate, Officer Doerfler found that the tax tab was stolen from another vehicle. The owner of the motorcycle, who allowed the unlicensed driver to use the motorcycle, will now also be facing serious charges related to the stolen license tabs.
