Lakeville Fire Fighters Battle House Fires on Back-to-Back Days
Fire Chief says house fires are coincidental and not related.
Lakeville’s fire chief says two separate house fires on consecutive days this week are unusual, but unrelated.
At around 5 a.m. on April 18, Lakeville Fire Chief Mike Meyer said smoke alarms alerted the family living at 21245 Inspiration Path that something was wrong. By the time fire crews arrived, Meyer said the home’s three-car garage and attic were ablaze.
Meyer said the adults gathered the two children and family dog from the house without incident.

“The mom and dad didn’t question anything. They got out of the house, which is what should be done,” Meyer said.

Then, yesterday, just one day removed, the Lakeville Fire Department was dispatched to another house fire at 11311 178th Street.
Lakeville Police first arrived around 6:40 a.m. and reported seeing smoke coming from the home, Meyer said.
According to a press release, when firefighters arrived on the scene, they weren’t sure if there were any occupants. They entered the home, but a partial floor collapse made the search difficult. Firefighters reentered through the basement and found no occupants.
Meyer said both fires are under investigation, but both are unrelated and arson isn’t suspected.
“It’s just one of those things,” Meyer said. “Neither fire is related by any means.”
No injuries were reported among homeowners or firefighters.
Lakeville Patch will have more on the causes of the fires when they become available.
