Lakeville’s Busy Meeting Week to Feature Discussion About Crystal Lake Repurposing

Lakeville's City Council, School Board and Economic Development Commission will meet this week, but the School Board's decision regarding Crystal Lake will highlight much of the agenda items.

Lakeville district personnel, parents and even students have been wondering what the , since it was decided last winter to shutter the school and repurpose the building in an effort to save money, teachers and programming as part of a large budget cutting process.

The waiting may be over. During it’s meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 22, at the , the School Board is expected to vote on a plan to renovate the space and from its current leased space at Kenwood Center to the Crystal Lake building. Moving the program to Crystal Lake would save the district $500,000 in lease-related annual expenses. 

A timeline for the renovations and move will also likely be announced during the meeting.

In addition, the board will also be voting on the issuance of debt for Alternative Facilities maintenance projects, as well as vote on the consideration of a demographics study.

Before the regular meeting, the board will hold a study session, starting at 5 p.m., to discuss the vision and plan for technology. The board will also discuss next year’s board committee appointments as there’s just two more meetings until the New Year after this one.

City Council

Lakeville’s City Council will have its regular meeting at 7 p.m. tonight at , and the only action item is a public hearing to consider the imposition of a service charge in the Special Service District in downtown Lakeville.

The Economic Development Commission will hold its meeting at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday where there will be an update on the Business Marketing Strategy project and then review and approval of the 2012 Community Development Block Grant application.
