Letter to the Editor: Bellows is an Expensive Mayor

Letter writer: "Mayor Bellows has made some costly decisions and errors in the last two years."

To the editor,

Mayor Bellows has made some costly decisions and errors in the last two years.

Most infamously, he accused one of Lakeville’s employees of lying. He did this on camera, at a public meeting, and later could not produce a shred of evidence in support of his statement. Not surprisingly, the employee got a lawyer and the taxpayers doled out $1225.

We are lucky and fortunate the employee did not pursue that lawsuit. If he’s willing to say that on camera, imagine what he says when the camera goes off. Bellows will continue to be a liability to the taxpayers.

Bellows is also responsible for $25,000 given to consultants in order to perform basic math showing our municipal liquor operations reduce taxes. He then proceeded to critique the study because it didn’t agree with his prior conclusions.

Also, despite claiming to be a fiscal conservative Bellows made it clear he wouldn’t be able to stay within his personal budget given to him by the taxpayers. In 2011, he voted himself an increase in compensation claiming he hasn’t had a raise in 10 years.

Well Mayor, a whole lot of people aren’t getting raises.

It’s just too expensive for me to vote for Bellows.
