Letter to the Editor: Let's Ask Mark Bellow to Do Another Term

Letter writer: Bellows has done more than a little for Lakeville. Give him another term.

To the editor:

We have the opportunity to elect a mayor this year who has a terrific record of stewardship of our money, has unquestionable personal integrity, has a personal stake in the community and has no personal political ambition.

Mark Bellows is that person!

With 20+ years of service as a Lakeville police chaplain—for no pay—and 10 years on the city council, he has been showing a lot more then a little commitment to our community.

Mark Bellows lives and will continue to live, works and will continue to work, in Lakeville. He pays and will continue to pay tax in Lakeville. He knows he will be here when the consequences of his mayoral decisions take hold.

Mark does things that get no publicity but are very effective. For example: he had all departments of the city resubmit their budget requests with DECREASES! He created the “Developer’s Forum” to use experienced business people to reduce the budget. He created the “Realtor Day” to promote the city to new residence. He implemented the “Position to Thrive” program to enhance the business climate in the city. These are the things that result in the city being named one of the best places to live and being the wonderful place we all love to call home.

Mark Bellows has done so much more than a little for Lakeville; let's ask him to do another term!
