Man Accused of Threatening Lakeville Man Via Text Messages
Terrance Newsome of Farmington is charged with a felony count of making terroristic threats.

A Farmington man has been charged with making terroristic threats after police say he threatened to blow off a Lakeville man’s head and deliver the head to the victim’s mother and brother.
Terrance Newsome, 23, is charged with felony terroristic threats, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
According to the criminal complaint, a Lakeville man reported to police in early March that he and Newsome used to be friends, but Newsome became upset when he found out that the victim was “hanging out” with Newsome’s ex-girlfriend.

The victim said Newsome began sending threatening text messages, and he had become concerned for his safety.
In one of the messages, Newsome told the victim that if he continued to talk to his ex-girlfriend, Newsome would “blow [the victim’s] head off,” according to the complaint.

In another message, Newsome said he would deliver the victim’s head to his mother and brother, and in another one he told the victim that he would be going to the hospital, the complaint says.
In a subsequent message, Newsome warned the victim not to contact police, because Newsome had “already has them paid off.”
Newsome denied making the threats, and told police that his phone had been stolen during the week when the text messages were sent.
Newsome is scheduled to make a first appearance on the charge Aug. 29 in Dakota County District Court in Hastings.
