Minnesota State Fair: Thursday's Senior Day; Rascal Flatts Performs

Thursday is Seniors Day at the fair, and those 65 and over get in for just $7.

To go with the theme of the days, more than 1,000 fair-goers are expected to participate in the Senior Stretch & Stroll. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. and the program at 10 a.m. in Carousel Park. Held annually on the second Thursday of the fair, participants receive free t-shirts and fitness equipment.

In addition, Something to keep in mind if you're an animal lover is that cattle, sheep and swine leave the fair at 2 p.m., and barns will be closed for the rest of the day. The rides at Mighty Midway and Kidway also have a one ticket discount until 1 p.m. 

As for the evening's musicla stylings, Rascal Flatts plays the grandstand at 7 p.m. Limited seating is available for $43, $53 and $63.

Getting to the fair from :

The Minnesota Transit Authority has teamed with the fair to offer express buses to the fair grounds from three South Metro locations:

Burnsville High School located at Hwy. 13 and Portland Ave. with hourly service on weekdays only.

Burnsville Transit Station located at Hwy. 13 and Nicollet Ave. with hourly service on weekdays; service every 30 minutes on weekends and Labor Day.

Eagan Transit Station located at Yankee Doodle and Pilot Knob Road at I-35E with service every 30 minutes on weekends and Labor Day.
