Wednesday's $229 Million Powerball Lottery Ticket Sold in Dakota County
In 2006, a Lakeville man won $46 million playing Powerball.

Wednesday's record winning $229 million Powerball lottery ticket was sold in Dakota County, according to the the Minnesota State Lottery.
Jenny Canfield, the state's acting lottery director said the $229 million jackpot will be the state's largest winner.
The state lottery should know later today where the ticket was sold, according Canfield.

If sold in Lakeville, it will be the second multi-million dollar Powerball jackpot with a Lakeville connection in the past five years. In 2006, Michael Hawes, then 46,of Lakeville, won $46 million when he hit all five numbers and the Powerball on a ticket he purchased at a Cub Foods in Burnsville.
Lottery officials say Wednesday's winner has the option of taking roughly $123 million in cash immediately, or about $84 million after taxes. If not, the jackpot is paid in installments over 30 years.

The winning numbers drawn Wednesday night are 11, 18, 36, 41, 46 and the Powerball is 38.
