2 Treated At Hospital After Maple Grove House Fire: Chief

A man and a woman who lived in the home were taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation, Maple Grove Fire Chief Tim Bush said.

MAPLE GROVE, MN — Two Maple Grove residents were taken to the hospital after their home caught fire Wednesday, according to Maple Grove Fire Chief Tim Bush.

Firefighters were called Wednesday morning to a two-alarm fire at a single-family home in the 9700 block of 99th Avenue North. Crews from Maple Grove and several neighboring agencies put out the fire after it caused “extensive smoke damage” to the home, Bush said.

A man and a woman who lived in the home were taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center on Wednesday to be treated for smoke inhalation, the chief said.

Firefighters were still working at 11 a.m. Wednesday to “overhaul” the home and make sure there were no more embedded fires, Bush said.

Hennepin County officials are investigating the cause of the fire, which started in the home’s basement, Bush said.

About 30-40 firefighters were at the house fire Wednesday morning, including crews from Anoka-Champlin, Brooklyn Park, Osseo, Golden Valley and all five fire stations in Maple Grove, according to the chief.

Golden Valley supported crews with a life-support unit, which Bush called a “health and safety check” and “rehab station” for firefighters as they finished at the scene. Firefighters are given water and have their vital signs checked before they are cleared to leave, Bush said.

“We want to keep them safe,” Bush said.
