MEA Weekend at Three Rivers Parks

Looking for something to do during MEA weekend 2012? Three Rivers Park District offers some options.

MEA Fall on the Farm at Gale Woods Farm 

An activity-packed fall day meeting farm animals, making a farm-fresh snack, and creating a wool keepsake to take home. On Thursday, Oct. 18, or Friday, Oct. 19, from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., at Gale Woods Farm, Minnetrista. Staff will guide hikes on our trails to learn about insects and introduce you to a live raptor. Come for an hour or stay the whole day. Program is designed for kindergarten-aged children and older. There will be a break in programming from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. for lunch.

Cost is $6 and reservations are required for groups of 6 or more. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Groups are asked to call Gale Woods at 763-694-2001. This program is for ages 5+.

Would be Wizards Guide to Survival

Silverwood's enchanted woods have been overrun by monsters: Kraken in Silver Lake, sphinx hiding in sculptures, goblins galore. Gather your team of wizard and/or would-be wizard friends and spend your day off from school helping us in the hunt. On Thursday, Oct. 18, from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m., at Silverwood Park, St. Anthony, you'll learn survival tactics such as: how to navigate dungeons, read trail markers, concoct potions, compose defense rhymes and riddles, assemble accessories and most importantly, hone your elemental wizard senses: Sight, smell and sound. This day camp is the perfect activity for the MEA break.
