Saturday, Aug. 17, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., at Eastman Nature Center, in Elm Creek Park Reserve, Dayton. Several of our Minnesota bumble bee species are in decline. Are you curious to know more about how these creatures live and what we can do to help them?
Join Elaine Evans, entomologist from the University of Minnesota and co-author of the book ”Befriending Bumble Bees,” to learn about bumble bee biology, identification, and conservation. There will be an optional hike out to the prairie to practice capturing, surveying, and releasing bumble bees that are foraging at flowers.
See how Evans identifies, counts, and marks the bees.
