'Faces of Imara' Raises Funds for Teen Moms in Kenya

A silent auction, music and African giving tree are some of the many highlights of the night, with all proceeds benefiting Imara International.

Imara International, a nonprofit organization serving teenage mothers in Kenya, presents “Faces of Imara,” fundraiser event.

The event begins at 6 p.m. at the Rush Creek Golf Club in Maple Grove on Sunday, Dec. 8. Tickets are $60 per person dinner buffet. A silent auction, music and African giving tree are some of the many highlights of the night, with all proceeds benefiting Imara International.

The gala will provide an evening of fellowship and celebration, along with opportunities to hear executive director Carol Erickson, based in Nanyuki, Kenya, summarize the organization’s growth and highlighted mothers, along with future plans for a Imara Village and ‘Saving Moms, Saving Babies’ capital campaign.

“We hope the 'Faces of Imara' gala provides an enjoyable evening for supporters and those interested to learn about the progress Imara has had, and the profound impact it has on these young mothers in the Nanyuki region of Africa,” Kathy Welliver said. “It is also a great opportunity to hear from Carol Erickson discuss the future expansion and vision moving forward for Imara and how it can benefit other teenage mothers and their children, for a better and brighter future.”

The “Faces of Imara” will include a variety of silent auction items, authentic African ornaments, along with other African items.  All proceeds will benefit Imara and the work with young Kenyan mothers in the Nanyuki region where Imara is based. Register here for “Faces of Imara.”
