Hennepin County Sheriff's Office Attends NNO, Offers Free Gun Locks

Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek would like to thank all the residents that participated in National Night Out and Night to Unite.

“Spending time with neighbors increases the likelihood that everyone will look out for each other and their property,” said Sheriff Stanek, “I am hoping this annual event inspired residents to create new neighborhood watch groups.”

This year, the Sheriff and Sheriff’s Office personnel met with residents and visited events in approximately three dozen communities including;  Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Greenfield, Hopkins, Maple Grove, Minneapolis, Plymouth, and Richfield  – to name a few.

During their visits with residents, Sheriff’s Office personnel shared important safety information about responsible gun ownership. The Sheriff’s Office and the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office gave away more than 400 free gun locks to residents.

For residents who were unable to receive a lock at the event, free locks are now available at the Sheriff’s Office Enforcement Services Division (9401 83rd Ave. N, Brooklyn Park, MN) Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In the coming weeks, gun locks will be available at additional Sheriff’s Office locations. Check www.hennepinsheriff.org for updates.
