Updated: Brooklyn Park Man Pulled From Maple Grove Pond Dies
Law enforcement recovered the man from the pond behind Great River Energy Friday evening.

Around 8:05 p.m. Friday, April 26, several law enforcement agencies responded to a 911 call on the report of a man walking into the pond behind Great River Energy in Maple Grove, according to Hennepin County Public Information Officer Lisa Kiava.
Maple Grove Police and Fire, North Memorial Ambulance and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office Dive team responded to the area near the 12000 block of Elm Creek Boulevard.

A Twin Cities man was recovered unconscious from the pond and transported to Maple Grove Hospital, according to Kiava, who said the pond still had some ice on it.

A 20-year-old Brooklyn Park man is dead following a incident Friday night at a Maple Grove pond.
Andrew M. Pitts was pronounced dead at the Maple Grove Hospital around 9:50 p.m. Friday, April 26, according to a release from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's office.
The man recovered unconscious from an icy pond and transported to Maple Grove Hospital, according to Kiava. He later died at Maple Grove Hopsital.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiners Office stated Saturday the cause of death was drowning and the "manner of death is pending further investigation."
Maple Grove Police, Hennepin County Sheriff's Office and Hennepin County Water Partol are investigating.
