Maple Grove Native Ends Winning Streak on ‘Jeopardy’
Maple Grove Senior High graduate Drew Horwood won eight straight games before it ended.

After winning eight straight games, Maple Grove native Drew Horwood’s winning streak on “Jeopardy” came to an end March 15.
The Maple Grove Senior High graduate is among a handful of contestants on the quiz show that have managed to win eight or more straight games.
“My goal was just to win one game and that’s no easy accomplishment,” said Horwood, “I was thrilled to win that much money but what really put me over the top was when Alex Trebek told me that only four people have won more games than I did. The money is great, but the feeling of accomplishment is something that will never go away.”

Several Osseo School District employees shared their comments about Horwood’s accomplishment on the ISD 279 – Osseo Area Schools Facebook page writing:
- Ann Swanson - So proud of my former 1st grader! Way to go, Drew! Doesn't surprise me a bit....you were a genius when you were 6!!!
- Kris Campea - He was in my 8th grade English class. I have really enjoyed watching his brain work as he answers all these questions.
Horwood walked away with about $138,000 in prize winnings which he plans to use for travel and college loans. During one of his on-camera interviews with Alex Trebek, Horwood mentioned using his prize money to travel to New Zealand.

“I fully intend on following through with that trip,” said Horwood told “Jeopardy” host Alex Trebek. “I also plan on donating some to charity and I’m very excited about paying off my student loans and being debt-free just one year out of college.”
A Maple Grove Senior High alum, Horwood graduated of the University of Minnesota in 2012 with a B.A. in History and a B.S.B. in Supply Chain and Operations Management. He now lives in Minneapolis.
Horwood will return to “Jeopardy” later this year for the Tournament of Champions, according to KARE11.
