Maple Grove Declares 'Farmers Market Week'
Festivities have already begun in the city and will continue next week to align with a national initiative.
With the seemingly infinite bounties of summertime in Minnesota, it's only right that local produce has its time in the sun.
That's why the Maple Grove City Council has proclaimed Aug. 7-13 as its local Farmers Market week. Additionally the Maple Grove Farmers Market was selected by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture and Minnesota Grown to host the statewide kickoff for National Farmers Market Week.
The initiative came with an Aug. 4 kickoff event. Its overarching program is facilitated by the Farmers Market Coalition and U.S. Department of Agriculture to highlight the quintessential role farmers markets play in the country's food system, according to the coalition.
