Stillwater Baseball Team's Quest For State Title Starts Tuesday

The winner of Stillwater-Sartell will take on Chanhassen or Andover in the Class 4A state semifinal at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at CHS Field.

STILLWATER, MN — The Stillwater Area High School baseball team is set to take on Sartell on Tuesday in the quarterfinal round of the Class 4A state tournament.

The first pitch in the Ponies' state-title push is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at CHS Field in St. Paul. Stillwater is the No. 2 seed in the Class 4A bracket, while Sartell is unseeded.

Stillwater won the Class 4A tournament in 2018 and will be led by senior outfielder and pitcher Brayden Hellum, who has a .570 batting average "and has been a force on the mound" this season, according to the Minnesota State High School League.

The Ponies won the Section 4AAAA title, while Sartell won the Section 8AAAA title, the MSHSL said.
