Third Weekend Road Closure of Northbound Highway 169 Begins August 2

Road construction from the Maple Grove/Brooklyn Park border to Golden Valley/Plymouth will once again close northbound Highway 169 while road resurfacing continues from Aug. 2-5, 2013.

The road closure and detour for northbound Highway 169 will begin 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2 between Highway 55 and I-694/94. The roadway and ramps are anticipated to reopening 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

It is the third of four weekend closures anticipated for northbound Highway 169. The Minnesota Department suggests using County Road 81 and Interstates 694-94, Interstate 394, Interstate 494 and Highway 100 as alternate routes for the northbound Highway 169 closure.
The $12.2 million project includes resurfacing as well as installing new guardrails, and improving bus lanes and pedestrian accessibility.

Other items happening Friday, Aug. 2 in and around Maple Grove:

• 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., a World Orphan Fund Garage Sale Fundraiser on 95th and Ranchview Lane.
• 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Osseo United Methodist Church has their annual garage sale.  
  
• Take in a performance of Home Base Theatre's production of Shrek the Musical at 7:30 p.m. at Maple Grove Senior High.
• See "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" as part of the movies by moonlight at Town Green in Maple Grove.
