Here's When Portions Of Highway 55 Will Re-Open Near Mendota Heights

MENDOTA HEIGHTS, MN — Portions of Highway 55 in and near Mendota Heights have been closed for construction since early June, and in some sections, May. Here are some project updates and information on when sections will re-open, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The overall project is to improve "smoothness" of the highway, MNDoT said. This includes a lot of repaving of the highway and re-decking of two of its bridges, the department said. The project will also add a trail between Mendota Heights Rd. and Blue Gentian Rd., MNDoT said.

Road Closure Updates

As with most construction projects, this one has seen its fair share of road closures.

Here's when sections of the highway will reopen:

• EB Hwy 55 between Hwy 5 and Hwy 13: Will reopen mid-August
• EB Hwy 55 between Hwy 13 and Mendota Heights Rd.: Will reopen June 30
• Both directions of Hwy 55 between Blue Gentian Rd./Lexington Ave. and Mendota Heights Rd.: Will reopen mid-August

Lane and Ramp Closures

The project has also seen its fair share of lane and ramp closures. Heres how long those will last:

• WB I-494 reduced to one lane between I-35E and Pilot Knob Rd.: This will end Friday
• Ramps for SB Hwy 5 to EB Hwy 55and EB Hwy 62 to NB Hwy 5 will reopen mid-August
