Larsen, Hill, Vaupel Lead In ISD 197 School Board Race
The results won't be official until they are certified by the Secretary of State.

DAKOTA COUNTY, MN — Sarah Larsen, Marcus Hill and Jon Vaupel are in the lead for the seats on ISD 197's School Board based on unofficial results of the race.

Voters in Mendota Heights, West Saint Paul and Eagan have cast their ballots, picking candidates in the 2021 race for the ISD 197 School Board.

Voters were able to select three candidates out of the nine still in the race.
The terms of board members John Chandler, Marcus Hill, Maureen Ramirez expire in December, according to the district's website. Chandler and Hill are both running for re-election.

Elena Villarreal withdrew from the race, however her name remained on the ballot due to the timing of the withdrawal. This means there were technically 10 options for ISD 197 voters.

The school district also asked voters whether the existing referendum revenue authorization should be renewed. The current authorization is $224.48 per pupil and is scheduled to expire after taxes payable in 2021. The proposed referendum revenue authorization would increase each year with inflation and be applicable for 10 years, beginning with taxes payable in 2022. By voting yes, residents voted to extend a property tax referendum that was scheduled to expire.
