Mendota Heights-Area Orgs Seeking Donations Thursday For 'GiveMN'

Thursday is GiveMN's 13th annual "Give to the Max Day," with thousands of Minnesota organizations accepting donations until midnight.

MENDOTA HEIGHTS, MN — Organizations throughout the Mendota Heights area are asking for donations Thursday for GiveMN, known as Minnesota's "Giving Holiday."

Thursday is the 13th annual "Give to the Max Day," which organizers call a "celebration of generosity and a giant virtual hug to the causes that help our communities thrive." The one-day event runs until midnight.
GiveMN's list of Northfield-area organizations participating in the event includes over 1,600 entries, including fundraisers for local schools, charities, animal shelters, churches, foundations and clubs.

Thousands of organizations throughout Minnesota are seeking donations Thursday.
"Give to the Max Day" features several donation-boosting raffles, with each donor entered for a chance to win a "Golden Ticket" that gives them more money to donate to the causes they support. Golden tickets are drawn every 15 minutes.

Organizers are also hosting two "power hours" Thursday, which reward organizations who receive the most donations with an additional $6,000. Power hours are due to be held from 10-11 a.m. and 10-11 pm.. Thursday.

Feed My Starving Children is leading the morning power-hour race, with more than $15,000 in donations from 51 people, as of 10:20 a.m. Thursday.
