The students are split into groups with responsibilities geared to help the school, local and global communities. Students demonstrate leadership skills by mentoring their younger peers, and they learn more about their local community through recycling. After several weeks, students rotate roles, so all students get the opportunity to lead.

One group of student leaders wanted to make a difference for hospitals in Africa. Students made a plan to hold two pop-up live music events and hot cocoa stands to raise money. For the first pop-up event, Ella, one of the students, played a cello solo. Her playing resonated with her peers, and they were able to put on a second pop-up event where she was joined by three other members of the orchestra.

β€œIt has been beautiful to see them come alive in their ability to serve others over the years,” said Booth Rud.
