βI mainly learn new tricks, jump rope, and meet a lot of new people. The fact we get to show other kids, and in the next few years, they might be doing it is most exciting,β said Tousignant.
During the one hour session, students take on new challenges to advance their skills. Some students practice individually, while others work together in groups. They work on various tricks, and coaches provide feedback to help them improve.
βA lot of us are just figuring this out, and this was a nice practice. We are learning, and we are getting our performance together,β said Richard Christlieb, physical education teacher.
In previous years, the Double Dutch group has partnered with the American Heart Association and hopes to continue that partnership in the future. Though no public performances have been announced, Nelson plans to have public performances in the near future.
