Plans For West Saint Paul Hy-Vee Cancelled: Report

WEST SAINT PAUL, MN — Plans to turn the former YMCA building in West Saint Paul into a Hy-Vee location have been cancelled, according to a report by West St. Paul Reader.

Hy-Vee wants to build stores around 150,000 square feet or larger, but the location proposed in West Saint Paul was only around 70,000 square feet, the publication reported.

The grocery chain had finalized the plans in 2018 and demolished the YMCA in 2020, but never began developing the location, according to the report.

Currently the closest Hy-Vee location to the Mendota Heights/West Saint Paul area is in Eagan at 1500 Central Park Commons Drive.
