Robert Street Underpass Inaugurated In West St. Paul
The $4 million crossing will help pedestrians get across busy Robert Street, and help connect the River-to-River trail.

WEST ST. PAUL, MN βWest St. Paul Mayor Dave Napier, state Rep. Rick Hansen, Dakota County Commissioner Kathleen Gaylord, and other local officials attended a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday to inaugurate the Robert Street underpass in West St. Paul. The leafy new tunnel under Robert Street between Thompson and Wentworth avenues is designed for bikers and pedestrians, many of whom previously felt unsafe crossing the busy street.
The $4 million underpass is an important new addition to the River-to-River Greenway, a 7.7 mile trail connecting Lilydale, South St. Paul, West St. Paul, and Mendota Heights, Dakota County Principal Planner John Mertens told the Twin Cities Pioneer Press.
