1. Attorney General Merrick Garland will be in Minneapolis Friday to make an announcement in "a civil rights matter,” the Associated Press reports. Mayor Jacob Frey and Police Chief Brian O'Hara are expected to be present, but officials would not confirm if the announcement relates to “findings of [the two-year] police department investigation.” (AP)

2. Three people were arrested after a “violent” kidnapping Monday at Mall of America, BMTN reports. Bloomington police said a woman was “pistol-whipped” in the parking lot by at least three suspects, including her ex-boyfriend. (BMTN)

3. Health care centers saw an increase in respiratory illness earlier this week due to poor air quality. Experts told CBS Minnesota the air alert is not expected to cause long-term health effects. (CBS)
