Hunter is a self-described member of the “Boogaloo Bois,” a loosely organized, violent anti-government group that hopes to incite a second civil war in America, according to the criminal complaint.

In May, the FBI started investigating the group based on information that members were discussing having an armed presence in Minneapolis as well as committing violent crimes during the unrest.

According to the complaint, Hunter was captured on video firing 13 rounds from an AK-47 style rifle into the Third Precinct on the night of May 28 and yelling “Justice for Floyd” as he ran away.

When Hunter returned to Texas, he posted on social media about his activities in Minneapolis.

Then on June 3, Austin Police stopped a vehicle for traffic violations. Three people were in the car, including Hunter, who was wearing a tactical vest with six loaded magazines for an AK-47 style rifle fastened to it. Officers found three semi-automatic rifles in the backseat, a loaded pistol next to the driver’s seat, and another loaded pistol in the center console.

Hunter had an “online affiliation” with Boogaloo Bois member Steven Carrillo, the Air Force sergeant charged with killing a Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s deputy in June, the complaint says.

Two other members of the Boogaloo Bois were charged in Minnesota in September with conspiring to support Hamas, a foreign terrorist organization.
