Here's What A Forecast Is Saying About The Winter Ahead In Minnesota
A long range winter forecast is predicting cold temperatures and large amounts of lake-effect snow in Minnesota for the upcoming winter.
Another long range winter forecast is predicting a "colder-than-normal" season for Minnesota.
The forecast from AccuWeather says those in the Great Lakes and northern Plains region can expect "bitterly cold air and above-normal snowfall."
According to AccuWeather, the season across the United States will be similar to last winter with La Niña influencing weather patterns but the system will be weaker when compared to the winter of 2020. The forecast says that the polar vortex may also be weaker.

When it comes to lake-effect snow, AccuWeather's forecast says the first bit may arrive in late November into December but the worst is not expected until early next year. One reason for this is the higher than normal temperatures in the Great Lakes, AccuWeather notes.
One AccuWeather meteorologist said it could be a pretty busy season in the Great Lakes region for lake-effect snow.

Earlier this month, the Old Farmer's Almanac came out with its winter forecast, which predicted a "season of shivers" with brutally cold temperatures and lots of snow for much of the United States.
