MINNEAPOLIS — A speeding drunk driver caused a seven-car crash on Interstate 94 Wednesday night, leaving one person dead and eight others injured, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The woman killed was a 26-year-old from Minneapolis. Among those hurt was a 2-year-old boy.

At 9:17 p.m., a Chevy Avalanche was traveling eastbound I-94 toward Lyndale Avenue at "a high rate of speed" when it struck and caused severe damage to several vehicles, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The Avalanche driver was identified as 29-year-old Talon Covie-Cadrell Walker, of St. Paul, authorities said. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Avalanche passenger Taniyah Renee Randle-Smith, 20, of St. Paul suffered life-threatening injuries.

The driver of a Jeep Cherokee was identified as 28-year-old Brenton Molly Elizabeth, of Virginia, Minnesota. She was not injured in the crash, but her passenger died, authorities said.

Audi Q5 driver Kyle Williams, 36, of Minneapolis, was not injured.

Toyota Rav 4 driver Luis Vincente Withrow, 22, of Minneapolis suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Nissan Versa driver Susan Marie Clingman, 62, of Minneapolis, was not injured.

GMC Yukon driver Abass Abdulbasite Boke, 38, of Anoka suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

  • Passenger Ahmed Abdulraheem Al Kmali, 43, was not injured.
  • Passenger Meral Ahmed Al Kmali, 2, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
  • Passenger Yezan Ahmed Al Kmali, 5, was not injured.
  • Passenger Seham M Alsharmani, 31, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
  • Passenger Nabilah M Alshar-Mani, 30, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Ford Edge driver Michael William Henning, 62, of Burnsville, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
