No Attacks Found After ICE Said Its Agents Were Surrounded In Minneapolis: Hennepin Sheriff
Officials released audio of the non-emergency call that prompted the response.
MINNEAPOLIS, MN — The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office released new details Monday about a response earlier this month after federal agents reported they were surrounded and under attack in south Minneapolis.
Officials released audio of the non-emergency call that prompted the response.
According to the sheriff’s office, its Emergency Communications Center received a call at about 1:13 p.m. from the Department of Homeland Security requesting immediate assistance near 29th Street West and Pillsbury Avenue. The caller repeatedly told dispatchers that federal agents were being attacked by "60–70 agitators."

Due to the urgency of the request, Hennepin County deputies were sent to the scene.
When deputies arrived, they did not observe any assaults or agents in need of medical attention, the sheriff’s office said. Authorities reported that a crowd was blocking federal agents from leaving the area, and deputies assisted the agents in exiting safely.

The sheriff’s office said deputies cleared the scene shortly afterward. No arrests were made, and deputies did not use force, deploy chemical irritants, or employ any crowd-control measures.
In a statement, the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office emphasized that it does not participate in civil immigration enforcement and does not assist other agencies with civil immigration actions.
“Our obligation is to ensure the safety of all people in Hennepin County,” the sheriff’s office said.
